Cheetham Bell snatches 3m Vimto brief

The maker of soft drinks brand Vimto has appointed Cheetham Bell to handle the 3m advertising account for its fizzy drinks and cordials.

JN Nichols (Vimto) saw pitches from four agencies for the bus iness, which was previously held by Manchester agency Tom Reddy Advertising.

Chris Sefton, Vimto group marketing manager, says: “We were looking for an idea that was transferable across all aspects of the brand and Cheetham Bell has achieved this.”

According to the company, advertising will cover various media and will be directed at trade and consumers.

Last year, about 1m was spent on the Vimto Cordial brand in above-the-line advertising (Register-MEAL).

Vimto launched its first national TV push through Tom Reddy Advertising in 1995, with a 1m campaign set in a fantasy garden.

The brand, which is much stronger in the North, has launched extensions such as ice lollies. Last year, the company unveiled a natural energy drink called Indigo.
