Brown-Forman appoints new chief for UK
Brown-Forman, the US manufacturer of global spirits brands Jack Daniels and Southern Comfort, has replaced the head of its UK operation, in the middle of a pan-European advertising review.
Bob Krall, the marketing manager for Europe and Japan based at Brown-Forman’s headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky, becomes vice-president for the UK, Ireland and Holland, replacing Nick Herbert-Jones, who left several weeks ago without a job to go to.
Krall is one of the original Louisville management group responsible for overseeing the creative and media review of Southern Comfort across Europe.
J Walter Thompson, DMB&B and Bates Worldwide have been shortlisted for the account, which is held by Court Burkitt & Company in the UK.
The Southern Comfort review, which may be followed by a review of the arrangements for Brown-Forman’s Jack Daniels brand (presently handled by US agency Simmons Durham), is expected to be decided this week.
Krall says one of his next tasks is to appoint another marketer who will hold new product development responsibilities, and enable senior staff to concentrate on the parent brands.
