WCRS is tipped to win the 3m account for music chain Virgin Megastore.

The win will hand Havas, the network which owns WCRS, all of the WH Smith-owned Virgin Our Price business.

Mediapolis, also a Havas agency, already handles the media for Our Price outlets, and WCRS currently handles the creative work for Our Price. Last year, Our Price spent 4m, according to Register-MEAL.

In 1996, the small creative agency Leisure Process worked on Virgin Megastore’s creative account but the business is understood to have been inactive for most of this year.

The appointment comes after a review of the business, carried out by marketing director Neil Boote, who joined last year.

He says that the Our Price chain, which has about 200 stores nationwide, will position itself as a mass market retailer.

However, Virgin Megastore, which opened its 77th outlet last week, will attempt to appeal to a young market interested in music and home entertainment.
