Audience audit boosts ESI share dealing site

Electronic Share Information, the stock market quotation and online dealing service, has announced audited audience figures for its Website which establish it as the eighth busiest UK site.

An audit of site traffic by ABC//electronic, covering the period October 21 to November 20 last year, shows the ESI site recorded 5.6 million page impressions for the month, and attracted 150,000 registered users.

The data placed ESI marginally ahead of the page volumes achieved by Associated Newspaper’s search service, UK Plus, in its audit. But the number of people using ESI’s Website each month lags behind some sites ranked well behind ESI on the main measure of total volume of page impressions per month.

The announcement establishes ESI as the fifth largest generator of page impressions among UK sites which have so far unveiled industry-recognised audited audience data. Three other sites – Yahoo! UK & Ireland, Excite UK and the Financial Times – are thought to exceed ESI’s traffic levels, but have yet to publish formally audited data.

According to ESI’s commercial director, Simon Mead, use of the site, launched in 1995, has trebled in the past year.

Audit data for PA NewsCentre (www.pa.press.net) last Monday (February 2) shows the site achieved 4.68 million page impressions for the month ending August 30 last year, establishing it as the third most popular certified general UK news site behind Electronic Telegraph and The Times/Sunday Times sites.
