Victoria Wine plans ‘Italian Job’ wine line

Victoria Wine is linking with the NSPCC to produce a wine called The Italian Job. The name is based on the 1969 British film classic which stars Michael Caine.

Red and white varieties will be available through Victoria Wine stores for 3.99 from the beginning of April. For every case sold, 1 goes to the NSPCC. The charity hopes to raise 30,000 over three years.

The labels feature the Italian flag and a Mini emerging from behind a bunch of grapes.

The film has prompted an annual fundraising event called The Italian Job, in which British Mini owners must find their way to a given town in Italy. Each driver needs at least 1,500 of sponsorship to take part. For the past eight years, the NSPCC has received a large slice of the money raised from the drive, which takes about ten days.

The fundraiser has various sponsors, including Sea France and Rover – which now makes the Mini.

This year the drivers will head for Imola, home of the Ferrari circuit.
