Granada Sky Broadcasting calls pitch for ‘off-air’ task

Granada Sky Broadcasting has shortlisted four agencies to pitch for a project to promote the Granada Plus channel.

The cable and satellite broadcaster says it is talking to WCRS, Rocket, Curio and LGM about the project, which involves promoting the station’s acquisition of The Avengers series, which will run in September.

The account would involve creating “off-air” work to support a television campaign which will be created by GSkyB in-house. “The agency probably wouldn’t work on the TV commercials, it would handle the off-air ads,” says a GSkyB spokesman.

GSkyB is a joint venture between Granada and British Sky Broadcasting, and was launched in October 1996. Granada Plus is its main channel, running from 6am until 11pm. It broadcasts archive material from London Weekend Television and Granada, and some foreign shows.

GSkyB runs two other stations, Granada Breeze, lifestyle programming for women, and Granada Men & Motors.
