MoS to fold TV listings into Night & Day in major revamp

The Mail on Sunday is to absorb its 36-page TV listings supplement called Programme into Night & Day as part of a revamp of the newspaper.

The 48-page Night & Day supplement will be given a glossy cover and increase its pagination to about 82 pages, 32 of which will be devoted to TV listings.

The main newspaper will boost pagination from 104 to 126 pages and the four-page Family Mail section will be replaced by a review section.

An increase in colour pagination is also expected as part of the general increase in pages, as first reported in Marketing Week (July 9).

A revamp for the title was expected following the announcement last December that Mike Ironside would take over as managing director in January (MW December 10).

Damian Blackden, press director of Zenith Media, says: “The move of the TV listings into Night & Day should help increase readership levels which as a proportion of total average readership are relatively low compared with other newspapers. This should address the issue.”

According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, The Mail on Sunday’s average net circulation for the six months ended December was 2,312,329.
