P&G spice breaks wind at 110mph

Procter & Gamble global brand manager Phil Gladman’s belief in his company’s products extends to showing that classic Seventies pong Old Spice still maintains its macho, 100 per cent testosterone-fuelled attraction.

Procter & Gamble global brand manager Phil Gladman’s belief in his company’s products extends to showing that classic Seventies pong Old Spice still maintains its macho, 100 per cent testosterone-fuelled attraction.

Gladman sounds as if he lives the Old Spice life to the full. He drives a Lotus Elise and has signed up his brand to sponsor the Legends Car Championships. Legends Cars are five-eighth scale replicas of Thirties US Ford and Chevrolet sedans and coupés.

Not content with securing the sponsorship, Gladman decided to race in the tournament and managed to get through three heats – at speeds of up to 110mph – without a scratch.

But the experience seems to have given him a nasty bout of what doctors call JeremyClarksonitis – (or bluejeanbaggiensis as it is sometimes known). “These machines are totally addictive… they are feisty little devils, much faster than you would imagine” he says. Vrooom.
