UK freshens up washing habits

We Britons are scrubbing up nicely. Having taken to the continental style of dining alfresco and paying through the nose for a posh cup of coffee every morning, the UK population is now taking on the washing habits of our European neighbours.

The market for shower products in the UK has powered ahead in the past five years, but we still have some way to go, according to research by Taylor Nelson Sofres.

Sixty-seven per cent of Britons take a shower once a week, more than ever before. But the figure is still low compared with 89 per cent of French people and 85 per cent of Germans, Italians and Spanish.

One can only hope we combine our one shower a week with some other form of ablutions.
