S Club 7 pop group plans fashion line

Teen pop group, S Club 7, is to launch its own-branded range of teenage clothing later this year. The pop group has teamed up with teenage and accessories brand The Gear, which was launched in the UK early this year.

The S Club 7-branded clothing range will initially be introduced in Woolworths stores, before being rolled out to other retailers. The new range will not include garments with pictures of the teenage group, but will instead have its own brand identity.

The Gear introduced its clothing and accessories in May this year. The brand was launched to target 16-year-old girls with high disposable incomes (MW May 17).

It has also developed a lifestyle website – allthegear.com – which provides features and tips on fashion and accessories.

S Club 7 was signed up as the new face of Britvic Soft Drinks’ Pepsi brand to launch its “Ask for More” summer campaign. The teenage group has also signed a publishing deal with the Penguin Group, that involves a book to be launched under the Puffin label in October this year (MW July 26).

The launch of S Club 7-branded clothing range will be another addition to the list of celebrities who have launched their own-label brands. Sean “Puffy” Coombs and Jennifer Lopez have both turned their hand to fashion designing. Lopez’s line is called J.Lo and Coombs’ new clothing line is known as Sean John.
