Capital seeks sponsor as Sunday Cat and Edith show goes national

Capital Radio is hunting a sponsor for the Cat and Edith Hit Music Sunday show, which is to be launched nationally on January 13.

The show has been running on the group’s London station, Capital FM, but will now be broadcast across the Capital Radio network on Fox, BRMB, Power and Ocean, Red Dragon, Southern FM and Invicta.

Capital’s stations have a combined listenership of 6 million (RAJAR).

The show – hosted by Cat Deeley and Edith Bowman – will be broadcast between 2pm and 6pm as a curtain-raiser to the Pepsi Chart, hosted by Neil Fox.

The move is part of a strategy announced by Capital Radio in July to share content across its radio stations.

Capital Radio operations director Paul Davies says: “This is the beginning of a process which will see our brands working together on promotional and commercial initiatives.”

The Cat and Edith show has been running for almost a year in London. The pair met while working on MTV’s Hitlist and Deeley has since risen to fame as one of the stars of ITV1’s Saturday morning children’s show SM:TV Live.

In September Capital Radio posted yearly pre-tax profits of &£30m – ahead of analysts’ expectations – but said it was cautious about future advertising revenues.
