Littlewoods restructures its marketing

Retailer Littlewoods has separated the management of its home shopping and stores divisions, triggering a marketing restructure.

Head of special projects Phil Anderson has been made marketing director for Littlewoods Stores; and head of customer communications for home shopping Liz McNamara has taken on the role of marketing director for Littlewoods Index stores.

Group sales and marketing director Susan Murray has been promoted to managing director of the high-street business. Kelvin Coyle, former director of sales and marketing for the stores, is now operations director, reporting to Murray.

The restructure has been supervised by chief executive Alistair McGeorge, who becomes acting home shopping managing director.

Sales and marketing director for home shopping Brian Lunt has been made marketing director for core business, responsible for the Littlewoods and Littlewoods Extra catalogues.

Director of financial services Alan Evans has been made marketing director for new business development, responsible for the Internet. Group brand and marketing strategy director Greg Ball takes on Evans’ former role.

A Littlewoods spokesman says: “The restructure means there is a much greater focus on producing growth in our respective businesses.”

The move follows poor figures for the financial year ending April 30, 2001 when the business posted a retail trading profit of &£44.1m, down from &£81.3m, on sales of &£1.89bn. Full year results for 2001/2 are expected in July.
