There’s nobody here but us Ewoks

As marketing campaigns go, you won’t see much better than Lucasfilm’s milking of the Star Wars licence. But, as the Diary has discovered recently, George Lucas isn’t the only person to be cashing in on this golden egg. Compassion In World Farming (CIWF) – which uses the slogan “campaigning for farm animals”, summing up precisely what it does – has come up with a sure-fire hit to promote itself.

The group’s website, Savetheewoks.com, features a spoof of Star Wars, called Farm Wars: Attack of the Clones, featuring an Obi Wan Kenobi character and a cheesy Princess Leia, raiding a farm owned by Old Farmer Darth’s Quality Ewok Burgers.

The film has dancing storm troopers and Farmer Darth wearing a straw hat and chewing a piece of grass. The Diary salutes this attempt to entertain while getting a serious point across. May the force be with them.
