Newcastle airport lands top marketer

Newcastle International Airport has appointed Mike Luddy to the new position of marketing director.

Luddy was previously commercial and deputy managing director at Bristol International Airport. Prior to that he was head of marketing for BAA at Gatwick.

He joins Newcastle International following a restructuring of the airport’s management team, with the creation of commercial director and retail manager positions. Luddy’s role also involves executive director responsibilities and he will report to chief executive John Parkin.

The airport’s advertising and media account is handled by Cravens Advertising. Luddy was unavailable to comment on whether he will review the business.

In his previous job Luddy helped to establish the new identity of Bristol International Airport. He oversaw an &£800,000 advertising campaign ahead of the opening of a &£27m passenger terminal in 1999. While at Gatwick he developed the Fast Track business traveller departure channels.
