Georgia-Pacific appoints two category directors

Tissue manufacturer Georgia-Pacific has created two marketing positions, following the departure of UK marketing chief Steve Duncan, whose position was axed as a result of cost-cutting (MW October 31). Duncan will not be replaced.

The move is part of a company restructure, which will create two divisions: kitchen roll and tissues, and toilet roll. Andy Davis will head the kitchen roll and tissues category, which includes the Kittensoft and Le Box brands. Simon Hawkes will head the toilet roll category, which includes the Nouvelle brand.

As category marketing controllers, Davis and Hawkes will report to executive director of consumer business Gareth Edwards. Davis and Hawkes move from their previous positions as senior category controllers.

Edwards has overall marketing responsibilities, following Duncan’s departure. As part of a restructure, Duncan’s role was expanded last year to include private labels, brand management and trade marketing (MW January 4). The restructure divided the company into three groups – toilet tissue, household tissues (to include kitchen towels) and health and beauty tissues. At the time, Duncan was given the responsibility for all three product groups.

Last year, Duncan was responsible for the launch of Le Box, a facial tissue brand packaged in a clear plastic box.
