Govt hunts agency for small businesses investment drive

The Government is seeking an agency to create an ad campaign promoting small business investment, following new measures outlined in the April budget supporting the Investors in People (IiP) small businesses initiative.

The Department for Education and Skills’ trading standards body IiP is briefing COI Communications roster agencies about a multi-million pound push to support the campaign, which launches next year.

A spokeswoman for the IiP says that advertising spend on the campaign has yet to be confirmed.

Three unnamed agencies are pitching for the business.

The campaign will target entrepreneurs and promote subsidies available for starting up small businesses. Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown recently announced various measures to encourage small business investment and cut red tape in a bid to create employment and revitalise economy.

IiP provides the national standard and framework for improving business performance and competitiveness. The standard is designed to improve working practices and enhance profitability for UK companies. The campaign will be run in conjunction with the National Learning and Skills Council.

Earlier this year, IiP appointed its products and publications manager Nicola Maine as head of marketing (MW August 22).
