Berlin takes over as Daley quits Red Cell

Red Cell network co-chief executive officer Lee Daley is leaving the company to seek new challenges.

The WPP-owned network will be headed solely by chief executive officer Andy Berlin, chairman of New York-based Berlin Cameron/ Red Cell. Berlin will retain his responsibilities at Berlin Cameron/ Red Cell.

Daley was also made chairman of HHCL/Red Cell when the agency took control of HHCL & Partners a year ago (MW January 9, 2003). However, the agency’s executive creative director Steve Henry took his role as chairman two weeks ago.

Daley joined Red Cell in December 2001 and was previously executive vice-president and chief strategy officer at McCann-Erickson Europe, Middle East and Africa. It’s believed that he wants to return to a role linked to brand strategy, where he can work closely with clients.

He says that the job of pulling together “a truly global company” is nearly accomplished, but he will be working out his notice until June.

Red Cell was originally set up under the name Conquest to handle Fiat’s Alfa Romeo account and “challenger” brands, but was relaunched as a creative-led network. Berlin Cameron/Red Cell snatched the main Coca-Cola account in the US last year.

HHCL/Red Cell recently won the £4m Eco-tab business and will develop a launch campaign in the UK for the fuel additive.
