Ubisoft aims for young men with FX Channel Clancy deal

Ubisoft, the computer games publisher, has signed a sponsorship deal with satellite channel FX to promote its range of Tom Clancy games.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Double Agent will sponsor the ten-part thriller Sleeper Cell from this weekend, while Texas S.W.A.T. will be sponsored by Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas from November 4.

FX was launched two-and-a-half years ago and features crime shows, comedy, drama and movies. Ubisoft UK marketing director Jon Rosenblatt says: "The channel is dedicated to producing high-quality engaging entertainment for young men and, as such, is the ideal environment for us to introduce these particular games to our target audience."

Ubisoft teamed up with book publisher Penguin at the end of last year to produce a spoof Rough Guide for the launch of Far Cry Instincts for the Xbox. The company commissioned Penguin to write and produce a Rough Guide to the Jacutan Archipelago, the imaginary islands where the Far Cry game is set.

Rosenblatt was appointed as UK marketing director last year (MW July 14, 2005) following the promotion of John Parkes to marketing chief for Europe, Middle East and Africa (MW October 14, 2005).
