Oink! On Air! moves from Capital Disney to Fun Radio

Oink!, the national financial newspaper aimed at children, is launching a weekly radio show, Oink! On Air! on Fun Radio. The move follows the closure of its previous home Capital Disney, where it had a show.

Oink! On Air! is broadcast every Sunday morning and offers young listeners an hour of news and information about financial matters and includes Sty News, featuring stories on the latest money matters affecting children and their families.

The broadcast is jointly presented by Oink! editor Ernest Henry and showbiz columnist Leigh Purves.

The radio show also gives listeners the latest news and facts from the newspaper’s Piggybank Fantasy Stock Ex-change, which is supported by the London Stock Exchange.

Fun Radio is a station aimed at children aged under ten years old and their families, and features a mix of pop music, speech radio shows, games and stories designed to appeal to that age group.

Fun Radio programme director Jenny Nelson says that Oink!’s “edgy approach” will fit Fun Radio’s style.

Fun Radio is majority owned by Hit Entertainment and GCap Media and is available on DAB digital radio and via the internet.

Oink!, which is distributed in schools across the UK, has expanded its Fantasy Stock Exchange online as a separate brand and has the support of big-name brands including the Financial Times and Hamleys (MW November 30, 2006).
