Lowe London resigns Stella account

Lowe London has resigned the £20m global advertising account for Stella Artois. It brings to an end a 27-year relationship and will see the business go up for review.

The move comes just days after Stella owner Inbev appointed Mother to handle the launch advertising for its new 4% variant. It followed a two-way shoot-out against the two agencies after TBWA Berlin was knocked out at an earlier stage (MW.co.uk, July 11).

It follows a string of departure of senior Inbev executives including Devin Kelly, the UK marketing director, in January this year (MW, January 30) followed quickly by chief executive Richard Evans, who stepped down after 14 years in February.

The resignation does not affect its relationship on Inbev’s German beer brand Becks.
