NMA boosts staff numbers following funding increase

The Newspaper Marketing Agency has undergone a major restructure following a “significant” increase in funding by members. The move comes as the body plans to boost its lobbying activity for the industry.

It has promoted marketing director Anne Foster to the new role of director of marketing strategy and appointed Tim Snow as marketing manager, also a new position. Snow joins from golf company Acushnet.

Judy Harman, currently NMA’s planner, will step into the new and more senior position of planning director. Rhona Livesey, currently projects controller, will become relationship marketing controller. Livesey’s wider remit will see her take the lead role in communications with advertisers, agencies and stakeholders.

David Hunt, previously at First Choice Holidays, joins in the new role of marketing executive. He will organise the NMA’s advertising awards, the ANNAs, and its newly launched online awards.

Philippa Stanners has joined from ITV, in the new position of consumer insight manager, and Bibi Cotman from Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO as account planner.

The appointments follow last month’s launch of the NMA’s monthly Newspaper Online Analytics report, which provides data of the number of unique visitors to newspaper websites.

Maureen Duffy, NMA chief executive, says the boost in investment aims to provide advertisers and agencies with greater proof of the effectiveness of the medium.
