UKTV rebrands factual channels

UKTV has unveiled its new factual channel brands, under the ongoing revamp of its channels. UKTV Documentary will be renamed Eden and UKTV People as Blighty.

The new channels will launch early next year and join other rebranded channels in UKTV’s portfolio.

This week saw the launch of Watch, Alibi and Gold as three distinct brands.
Watch, previously UKTV Gold +1 operates as a catch-up service for series such as Torchwood and Candleford. The channel also carries the new Richard and Judy show.

Gold, which stands for Go On Laugh Daily, is a comedy channel that carries series such as Only Fools and Horses, Fawlty Towers and the Vicar of Dibley.

Alibi, previously known as UKTV Drama, is dedicated to crime dramas such as Taggart and Waking the Dead.

The rebranding strategy is being led by UKTV controller Matthew Littleford, who says Eden and Blighty are aimed at reinvigorating the factual section of the electronic programme guide with clearly defined brands.
