Hutchison cuts losses by 39%
Hutchison Whampoa, parent company of mobile operator 3, has announced reduced losses for 2008 driven by a 305% increase in mobile broadband customers.
The operator cut its group losses by 39% to HK$10.85bn (£976m) as its revenues grew by 1% to HK$7.79bn (£700m).
3 now counts over 2.5m mobile broadband customers globally which it has achieved via aggressive marketing and its unique 100% 3G network which offers robust connectivity.
As part of its results 3 mentioned encouraging sales of its INQ 3 Skype phone which has helped push the number of its subscribers up 17% to 20.7m globally.
