Linkedin names ex-Yahoo VP as CEO
LinkedIn, the business social networking website, has appointed former Yahoo! executive Jeff Weiner as chief executive officer.
He replaces founder Reid Hoffman, who took on the role six months ago and will remain executive chairman.
After leaving his position as executive VP of Yahoo!’s network division last year, Weiner was executive in residence at Accel Partners and Greylock Parneter. He first joined LinkedIn in January 2009 as interim president.
Since joining, Weiner has overseen all operations and played a key role in developing the company’s strategy.
Hoffman said, “Over the past six months Jeff has done an exceptional job leading the company and I look forward to continuing the work we have begun together.”
Weiner will also join LinkedIn’s board of directors.
