The internet giant has approached a number of UK creative agencies directly with a view to holding a pitch for the business.

Agencies will be asked to create an ad campaign that builds on its “Parisian Love” film. The company is considering running a campaign in the same way as it did during the Superbowl in the US last month, but has not officially decide on the specifics of the campaign. Contrary to reports, the internet giant has not promised a new TV campaign and is not looking at World Cup themes.

A spokesperson for the company says: “Google has begun approaching agencies to handle a new advertising campaign to promote its search facilities that will centre around different themes and events”

Google has only recenltly begun using above the line as an element of its marketing. Earlier this year, it paid particular attention to Chrome in a series of ads.

Yesterday, its video firm YouTube said it has signed Brylcreem and Lebara Mobile to be the sponsors of its coverage of the IPL cricket tournament, which will air on the online video service for the first time.
