News Corp takes The Sun onto the iPad
News Corporation has launched an iPad app for its tabloid brand The Sun, with a monthly cost of £4.99.
It’s following the same strategy it adopted for its Times-branded iPad app last month.
The Sun iPad app will feature editorial content from the print edition of the newspaper plus breaking news.
The publisher also launched two Sun-branded iPhone apps earlier this week – the free Sweepstake Shaker, and Sun Football World Cup Edition priced at £2.39 – to coincide with the FIFA World Cup.
The Times iPad app launched late last month, coinciding with the Apple device’s launch in the UK, and costs £9.99 for a 28-day subscription.
News Corp has split its original website Times Online into two sites for The Times and Sunday Times, both of which cost subscribers £1 a day or £2 for a week’s access (nma.co.uk 25 May 2010). This is the first time The Sunday Times has had its own website.
