Dell names new marketing chief

Computer giant Dell has appointed a new global chief marketing officer, after it was announced that Erin Mulligan Nelson is to leave the company.

Karen Quintos, a Dell marketing executive of 10 years, has been appointed to the role of senior vice president and chief marketing officer.

Quintos will be responsible for Dell’s global brand strategy and report directly to Dell chairman and chief executive officer, Michael Dell.

Last week it was reported to that Dell is to undertake a review of its creative agencies.

“Karen’s success at Dell has come from her tremendous focus on our customers and her strong understanding of our commercial IT solutions,” said Michael Dell.

“She is a world-class marketing professional and one of our most inspired and engaging leaders, and we are pleased to welcome her to our executive leadership team.”

Quintos has held various roles within Dell’s marketing team including vice president of marketing for Dell’s global public business, and vice president of marketing for the US commercial business.

She joined the company from Citigroup in 2000, where she was vice president of global operations and technology.
Nelson, who has held role at Dell since 2009, is to join Texas based social technology firm Bazaarvoice, to head their marketing strategy.
