Thomas, who has led the charity’s marketing and communications strategy since joining last year, will take over from incumbent CEO Fiona Dawe in May.

The move to promote a digital marketer to lead the online charity is part of YouthNet’s strategy to “support young people through emerging technologies” and provide them with information across digital platforms.

Thomas joined YouthNet as marketing and communications director from the BBC where she was head of marketing at BBC Future Media & Technology responsible for mobile and digital marketing activity across the organisation.

YouthNet operates three digital services as part of its online community: advice portal TheSite.org, volunteering website Do-it.org and careers and education advice site Lifetracks.com.
