Big Brother to return in the summer
Big Brother is to return to UK television screens this summer after Channel 5 confirmed that it had bought the show’s format from Endemol.
The Richard Desmond owned channel has been in negotiations to buy the rights to the reality show since Channel 4 broadcast what it billed as the “last ever” Big Brother last summer.
Celebrity Big Brother will run first followed by a series using the original format. Troubled actor Charlie Sheen is reportedly on Channel 5’s wish list for the celebrity version.
The two-year deal between Endemol and Channel 5 is said to be worth £200m.
