Bertrand will develop JustGiving’s marketing and supporter acquisition strategy to encourage new members to use the platform and the new products it plans to launch.

The organisation will also strengthen its marketing team with email marketing, social media and digital specialists.

Bertrand was previously head of acquisitions and partnerships at Photobox, and has held senior marketing positions at T-Mobile and Skype. He will report to the managing director Anne-Marie Huby.

Competition in the online fundraising sector has increased with the launch of BT’s MyDonate platform last month and Virgin Money Giving in 2009, which means Bertrand will be responsible for differentiating JustGiving and maintaining its market leading position.

JustGiving claims to be the UK’s largest online fundraising platform. More than 12 million people have used JustGiving to raise £750m for 9,000 charities since 2001.
