The collection, which includes leggings, shorts and socks in the women’s clothing line and equipment such as exercise bikes and treadmills, will be available in the autumn/winter Tesco Direct catalogue and online in October.

Prices start from £8 for a skipping rope and go up to £400 for a treadmill.

Dame Kelly Holmes said “I want to encourage women to be their best in all aspects of their lives, and this equipment will help women get the body they want at home without a pricey trainer or a gym.

“When you’re working out you want to look and feel good, so creating these long lasting clothes in fashionable purple, gold and grey will make women feel great when they wear them,” she added.

Last year Dame Kelly featured in Tesco rival Sainsbury’s TV ad as part of the supermarket’s Active Kids 2010 campaign. The ad also featured Jamie Oliver, who stepped down from his brand ambassador role at Sainsbury’s just last month.
