Diageo gets behind Responsibility Deal

The Responsibility Deal is a good example of how we can be part of a collaborative approach to improve the long-term health of the nation and we are proud to support all seven collective pledges of the Deal’s Alcohol Network.

As an individual pledge, Diageo has funded a training programme for midwives, run by the National Organisation for Foetal Alcohol Syndrome (NOFAS UK), to help arm expectant mothers with the information they need to make an informed choice about their alcohol consumption and put the health of their unborn baby first.

To clarify, Diageo does not provide training materials directly to midwives, as stated in the article (MW 24 November). The training programme is designed, provided and run by NOFAS UK and will reach an estimated 10,000 midwives, who in turn will inform at least 1 million pregnant women over the three years.
