Mark Horgan sidesteps Sainsbury’s for Moneycorp

Mark Horgan, the marketer who stepped down from his designated role as marketing director for Sainsbury’s before even joining the chain, has been named CEO of foreign exchange specialist Moneycorp.

Horgan, formerly of MasterCard, was due to join Sainsbury’s this month but the chain revealed in December that he would not be doing so due to “personal reasons”.

He will now head up the currency firm’s retail, wholesale and commercial foreign exchange markets, handling both private and corporate clients.

Horgan’s early exit from Sainsbury’s came at the same time as the supermarket’s brand director Claire Harrison-Church and corporate communications director Mark Rigby separately announced their departures.

The supermarket has since lost its non-food marketer Rebecca Singleton to Morrisons.
