The spot will air during Coronation Street and features two boys making friends across a garden fence and spending the summer together.

The (Theme from) The Monkees’ by the Monkees plays throughout the 60 second spot and Sainsbury’s is making 1,000 copies of the single free to download from its new music service.

It is hoped the spots will highlight how children can ‘Live Well for Less’ over the scholl holidays by doing “simpler” things that doesn’t mean parents have to spend lots of money keeping them entertained.

Sarah Warby, marketing director at Sainsbury’s, says the campaign marks the “next chapter” for the retailer’s marketing strategy.

The TV spot has been created by AMV BBDO.
