A video titled ‘A Cautionary Tale of Ebenezer Snoop’ featitures the rapper narrating an animated version if Dickens’ novel, which has been illustrated by Beavis and Butthead artist JJ Sedelmaier.
It sees the rapper confronted by Ghosts of Holiday Past (deceased tennis player Stan Smith), Present (footballer David Beckham) and Future (basketball player Derrick Rose and singer Rita Ora).
The film also features appearances from Adidas brand ambassadors such as Barcelona footballer Dani Alves and tennis players Andy Murray and Joe-Wilfreid Tsonga.
It is supported by a Facebook app that aggregates user data around certain activities on the social network such as commenting and event responses to create a personalised Ebenenzer film. Fans can also send a JJ Sedelmaier- illustrated greeting card with an Adidas discount to friends.
Christy Kilmartin, brand marketing director for Adidas, says: “We wanted to create a legitimate solution to Holiday gift-buying – using our diverse portfolio of adidas icons who resonate with all gift-givers, young and old. With our adidas take on a traditional Holiday story, we have created something truly funny and relevant, and using Facebook, offered consumers a way of sharing Holiday Spirit in way fit for 2012.”
