Mentoring and coaching body The Marketing Academy has recognised the importance of PR as part of the marketer’s arsenal with the creation of an official PR faculty partner.

The first PR partner is The Good Relations Group, owned by Chime Communications. The consultancy will begin its official role for the 2013 scholarship programme.

Good Relations Group will host events for scholars, including workshops and bespoke learning days.

Founder of the Marketing Academy Sherilyn Shackell says: “To become truly effective leaders it is vital for our scholars to gain a deep understanding of how to manage reputation and build trust in brands and companies. The insight they’ll gain from the Good Relations Group will provide this.”

Agency chairman Kevin Murray adds: “PR today is about us helping clients do the right things to build relationships and then build their brands through great communications.”

The Marketing Academy has just closed its application process for scholars for the 2013 programme. The not-for-profit body launched in 2010.

Mark Choueke, former editor of Marketing Week, is the Good Relations Group new business director and Marketing Week is a partner of The Marketing Academy.
