Three to air user generated dancing pony ads on TV

Three is to air the first in a series of user generated videos starring the moonwalking Shetland pony on TV later today (8 March).

The ads have been created using the online “Pony Mixer” tool which allows fans to customise their own version of the ad choosing from a selection of music themes and accessories.

Options include rave music, hip hop, rock and disco. Each scenario sees the Shetland pony from the original ad bedecked with glow sticks, bling or an afro wig dancing to an iconic track from the chosen genre.

The first four are versions of the boyband, rock, hip-hop and rave ponies.

In the original ad, created by Wieden + Kennedy London, the Shetland pony moonwalks to the backing track of Fleetwood Mac’s Everywhere. The YouTube video has been seen more than 3.8 million times since launching a week ago.

The ads, which carry the strapline “Silly stuff. It Matters” are part of Three’s ongoing “Keep on internetting” activity.
