Tesco pushes “100 per cent British steak burgers”
Tesco has launched a bold bid to repair the damage to its reputation the horsemeat scandal caused with activity trumpeting its new range of “100 per cent British Steak Burgers”.
The supermarket is running press ads today (11 April) to push its “Finest 100 per cent British Beef Steak Burgers With Smoked Garlic”.
It has been battling hard to convince consumers it has changed since becoming one of the first to be found to be selling burgers containing horsemeat in January.
It launched press ads soon after to apologise for the “unacceptable” behaviour of its suppliers and vowed to offer more information on the origins and content of its food than rivals.
It has also commited to source more meat from the UK.
Morrisons attempted to steal a march on rivals in the wake of the crisis by launching its own campaigns promoting its British sourced products.
