Gareth Bale is plotting the launch of a clothing range inspired by his signature goal celebration.

The footballer, who was crowned this season’s PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year, plans to put his signature goal celebration along with his number 11 squad number on a range of clothing and accessories called “Eleven of Hearts”.

It comes after the player filed applications with the Intellectual Property Office for both logos.

A clothing range would see Bale follow in the footsteps of Barcelona FC and Argentinian striker Lionel Messi, who launched a clothing range in 2011.

It is the latest attempt from the Welsh footballer to grow his commercial value after becoming one of the Premier League’s best over the last two seasons. Earlier this year, he was unveiled as one the brand ambassadors for BT’s sports channel. Last November, the winger signed a deal with production company Sundog Pictures to become the star of a branded content series. Bale will use it as a platform to market brands looking to target his fans once the show launches.

The move comes ahead of Tottenham and Bale’s hotly-contested match against London rivals Chelsea for the final spot for next season’s UEFA Champion’s League.
