Katy Perry named as the new face of Cover Girl

Covergirl has signed up singer Katy Perry as its latest ambassador, with her first cosmetics campaign for the beauty brand set to debut in spring 2014.

The first image of the campaign shows Perry wearing minimal make-up, although Covergirl promises the ads will showcase a “breadth of bold new beauty looks” devised by Covergirl’s global creative director, Pat McGrath. The tie-up coincides with the launch of Perry’s new album, Prism, which is set for release on 22 October.

Esi Eggleston Bracey, Covergirl Cosmetics’ VP, says: “Never afraid to express emotion, strength, vulnerability or independence,Katy is the embodiment of a true Covergirl – someone we root for, identify with, and get inspiration from. We have been admirers of her music and her style for a long time, and are looking forward to a beautiful journey together.”

Perry is just the latest star to represent Covergirl. She follows in the footsteps of other celebrities including singer Pink, actor Drew Barrymore and musician Janelle Monae.

Perry also endorses a range of other brands, from Pepsi to hair care manufacturer ghd and snack maker Popchips. She also her own range of perfumes and has worked with OPI Nail Lacquer on a line of nail varnishes.
