Marc Speichert has been promoted to lead the cosmetics company’s push into digital media.

Speichert will oversee digital marketing investment and innovation, alongside shopper insight and business development. He will report to executive VP of the Americas, Frederic Roze, but will work globally across all four divisions of the cosmetics business.

Speichert takes over the role from Marc Menesguen, who had been leading the cosmetics company’s brand building efforts after becoming president of its consumer products division in July.

It is Speichert’s second promotion in four months after being tasked to head up the company’s marketing efforts across the Americas in the summer. He joined the business in 2010 as chief marketing officer of L’Oreal USA from Colgate Palmolive where he led its category innovation activity.

The appointment comes as L’Oreal looks to bolster its presence in the digital arena after appointing DigitasLBI earlier this year to lead its media planning. The cosmetics firm believes digital is key to achieving its target of 1 billion new consumers by 2020.
