Three ad features Starship singing cat

First it was dancing ponies, then a pug dog in a knitted party hat and now a bike-riding child singing 80s AOR backed by a harmonising cat.

The latest Wieden and Kennedy created viral bid from mobile operator Three ticks all internet hit boxes: a cute cat, adorable child and kitsch soundtrack, in this case Starship’s 1986 melodramatic fist pumper “We Built this City”.

It is its second brand campaign following last year’s Fleetwood Mac loving dancing Shetland ponies and uses a variation on that campaign’s “silly stuff, it matters” strapline, this time opting for “we all need silly stuff”.

It again comes complete with UGC options. People can place themselves in the ad by uploading their photos to http://www.singitkitty.co.uk/ and see their face belting out the ad’s featured song.
