Data Storytelling Awards 2015: The Shortlist

In September this year, Marketing Week will be celebrating the best of the data industry with the Data Storytelling Awards. Before the ceremony, we will also be holding the Data Storytelling Conference. Here we reveal the shortlist for 2015

For 2015, Marketing Week’s annual celebration of the great and good in the data industry is reborn. The new name, Data Storytelling Awards, is not just a rebadging exercise decided on a whim; it is a reflection of the changing nature of how brands are using data to drive business success.

Data is being utilised to transform businesses, processes and most importantly, sales performance. In just a few years, the conversation is no longer about why data is going to change marketing, it’s about how it is bringing brands’ stories to life.

This year’s shortlist crystalises this journey perfectly. Whether it is how brands are successfully harnessing the new possibilities real time automation presents to create engaging and highly effective campaigns or the increasingly canny exploitation of data to drive results via ‘traditional’ channels such as direct marketing, the shortlist is all encompassing.

Looking over the shortlisted entries, it is rewarding to find that although data is the fuel for an array of platforms, tools and channels, the measures of success are generally the same: they generated impressive return on investment. All those shortlisted were clear in their description of the success against objectives.

The awards ceremony on 10 September will be a celebration of data’s role in driving this business success. Make sure you join us at the Marriott Hotel in London for this celebration of the marketers and agencies behind excellence in data use, when the winning entries will be unveiled.

In addition to the categories listed here, we will soon announce a shortlist for the Data Professional of the Year. You can still nominate your choice for the marketing industry’s most admired brand-side data professional until 15 June at www.mwlinks.co.uk/dataprofessional. After the nominations close, we will be asking you to vote on a winner from the shortlist, compiled from the nominations and based on their quality of work, innovation and overall contribution to the data marketing industry.

Also new this year, the Data Storytelling Conference, which takes place ahead of the awards on 10 September. Some of the UK’s biggest brands will share their data stories and how you can win in your respective sectors ahead of the evening’s glittering awards ceremony.
