Playbuzz

Playbuzz is a digital design platform for marketers and publishers to create their own shareable games, quizzes and other content. Based in New York, its clients include MTV, Time and Mashable.

The platform raised $15m (£10m) in March 2016 from funders including Disney and media investor Saban Ventures. Playbuzz was co-founded in 2012 by Shaul Olmert (pictured right), son of former prime minister of Israel Ehud Olmert, and Tom Pachys (pictured left).

Previous investors include 83North, which contributed towards a $16m (£11m) investment in March 2015. It produces its own content but consumers can also use the platform to create their own.

Quizzes include: “Which business leader would make the best US President” for CNBC, and “Who said it: Kanye West or Steve Jobs?” for Inc magazine. Playbuzz was called “the most shared website on Facebook” and Olmert has lofty ambitions: “What YouTube did for video, we want to do for interactive, high-engagement experiences,” he told Business Insider last year.
