Volta calls up Maynard for UK launch

Italian battery brand Volta has called on actor Bill Maynard, who plays Claude Greengrass in the hit TV series Heartbeat, to launch its products in the UK.

Already established on the Continent, Volta will this month unveil an ad campaign, featuring the actor. Volta aims to take a five per cent share of the ú460m UK battery market. Maynard has also helped devise the catchline: “There is no more powerful battery on earth than Volta! So why pay the earth?”

Volta was set up 100 years ago by the inventor of batteries, Alexander Volt. It has employed Leicester’s Eurowide Commerce to market the goods in the UK. Eurowide has created the ad campaign in-house and is now looking for offices for Volta.

Volta produces industrial batteries for use in applications such as roadwork signs, car alarms and smoke alarms. Their domestic uses include products such as toys and TV remote controls. It also manufactures for leading brands.

The battery promotion features the first small, electrically-powered town car made by Volta, which will be driven by Maynard.
