SBHD: The things they wish they’d never said…

“People are a little less good when they leave Saatchi.”

Attributed to Jeremy Sinclair, former chairman of Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide, who left the agency last Monday as part of Maurice’s troika.

“There aren’t many people who can step in and make a contribution from day one.”

Adam Crozier, who stepped in and made a contribution as joint chief executive of Saatchi & Saatchi London on the same day.

“This is being completely blown out of proportion. Our clients are not going to review simply because Maurice has left. Colin Marshall may be a friend of Maurice’s, but BA won’t let personal friendship get in the way of business.”

Former joint managing director of Saatchi & Saatchi Nick Hurrell, in an interview before Christmas. Nick Hurrell resigned from Saatchi & Saatchi last Wednesday (MW January 13). BA announced it was reviewing the same day.

“News on the day, not the following Thursday.”

An ad for the Evening Standard in Campaign magazine last week. The ad included pages from the regional newspaper’s West End final. What the ad did not mention was that the Evening Standard only managed to get the story in its final edition; most of us in the humble marketing/advertising press had the story by midday.

“This is turning into the ad world’s own OJ Simpson saga.”

Wall Street media analyst Karen Ficker of Wasserstein Perella Securities.
