Banks Sadler enjoys surge

End-of-year estimates for the value of meetings and incentives placed and organised by Banks Sadler were up £3m at £12.5m, compared with £9.7m at the end of 1993. The company is forecasting growth to £15m for the next 12 months.

About 5,000 events were handled during 1994: 62 per cent of these were for 50 delegates or less; 20 per cent for those averaging 51 to 100 delegates, and 18 per cent for those of 101 people or more.

Of these events, 15 per cent were sales conferences and 22 per cent were incentive, entertainment or social events.

Banks Sadler claims to have secured savings on published tariffs for meetings buyers last year for at least 90 per cent of its bookings.

Commenting on the figures, Banks Sadler general manager Paul Hussey issued a warning for 1995: “First, forget London for the bigger 200-delegate conference between January and June, and September to November. Instead, think about Edinburgh, Glasgow, Bristol, Brighton or Heathrow – and book now for London in 1996.
