Young & Rubicam is understood to have won the ú3.5m European Night Services business to promote the Channel Tunnel’s sleeper service.

The agency, which already has the ú10m Eurostar business, knocked out Ogilvy & Mather, Grey and Impact FCA! in the last round of a series of pitches which began at Christmas.

Eurostar, the day service between London and Paris and Brussels, is operated by a consortium made up of British European Passenger Services, the French Railways and the Belgian Railways. European Night Services is a separate operation but the UK arm is also operated by European Passenger Services.

ENS maintains the final decision will only be made at a board meeting to be held next week.

ENS initially lined up nine unnamed agencies to take part in the first stage of the pitch for a campaign, which will be led from the UK and is intended to attract business travellers onto the overnight services bound for Europe.
