SPOT THE RACE

Clue: `Find me in Gloucestershire on St Patrick’s Eve’

Marketing Week and York Racecourse’s Spot the Race competition offers readers the opportunity to win – as the top prize – a private box and admissions for up to 12 people at York’s October Race Meeting. The winner gets a choice of days – October 4, 5 or 7 – plus ú240 of free Tote bets, free admissions and a champagne reception.

It’s a simple-to-enter competition running over five rounds. All you have to do is interpret the clues supplied by the Diary between now and June 9. For every round in which you submit a correct answer, you earn an entry into the draw for the top prize, which will be made on June 20.

And that’s not all. The winner of each of the five rounds – again correct answers are subject to an eliminatory draw – will be invited to take a partner on a VIP day out to York Races between May and July. The prize includes free admissions, a champagne lunch, ú50-worth of free bets from the Tote and free first-class travel to York, if you use the InterCity East Coast Line (London to Inverness). York Racecourse is within two hours’ by rail from London and Manchester – Edinburgh and Birmingham are within two hours 30 minutes.

Here is all you need to know for Round One. Using the clue – together with any national newspaper or on-the-day TV coverage – identify the full race title and distance of the most valuable race supported by the sponsor Bonusprint.
