Schapp nets top position at Visa wing

Visa International has replaced its head of marketing following the retirement of Patrick Bowden earlier this year.

Stephen Schapp has moved from the company’s Frankfurt office to take up the post of executive vice president for marketing in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He will be based at Visa’s regional headquarters in London.

Schapp has worked for Visa for more than 20 years. He will oversee marketing and advertising and take responsibility for Visa’s on-card products.

He will report directly to Visa EMEA president Jean-Jacques Desbons. Existing London marketing staff will report directly to Schapp.

The Frankfurt office is to recruit locally for a deputy general manager to succeed Schapp.

Since his retirement, Bowden has been retained as a special adviser to Visa International.
